Tool for Visualization of Microbiome Data

Táto práca sa zameriava na vytvorenie nového nástroja pre vizualizáciu mikrobiomových dát. Vytvorený nástroj používa pre redukciu dimenzií analýzu hlavných komponent (PCA) a analýzu hlavných súradníc (PCoA). V prípade výpočtu dištančnej matice sú použité metriky Bray-Curtis odlišnosť a UniFrac. Spracované dáta sú následne ofarbené na základe užívateľom zvolených metadát. Výsledky sú prezentované pomocou dvoch typov grafov. Prvý z nich je stĺpcový a zobrazuje podiel každej hlavnej zložky. Druhý, bodový graf, vizualizuje konečný výsledok požadovanej analýzy. V rámci práce bola pridaná možnosť stiahnuť si vypočítanú maticu a taktiež tabuľku prvých N hlavných zložiek vypočítaných danou analýzou.

Valets of emperor Rudolf II.

The following diploma work is proposing clarification of the circumstances around rise and growing importance of personal valets of Emperor Rudolf II., using studies of the individual careers of those valets. It studies their connections to powerful magnates and other court courtiers of Rudolf II. in the time before the battle of Bílá Hora. The diploma work takes all those aspects together and puts them into wider context. For this purpose were used examples of the three most well-known persons who served in such a function during the rule of Rudolf II., namely Jeroným Makovský z Makové, Filip Lang z Langenfelsu and Kašpar Rucký z Rudz. Due to the circumstances of their infamous ends we are able to gather enough papers from which to reconstruct and assort their individual biographies. By investigating numerous correspondences, promissory notes, processional acta (witness testimonies), deeds and other official or personal resources stored in the National archive in Prague and in the State archive in Vienna, it became possible to uncover the tangled networks of the valets' power connections and their accrual of wealth; to reveal possible reasons for their fast advancement, (the culmination of which was their acceptance into the knighthood) and also to answer some questions related to the difficulties therein. Part of the diploma work comprises the attached illustrations.

The Reign of Marcus Aurelius: Stoicism in Political Decisions

The bachelor thesis focuses on the philosophy and government of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. The thesis aims to find out how Stoic philosophy influenced Marcus Aurelius and his political decisions. Although he is generally regarded as a representative of Stoicism, the first section of the thesis examines to what extent, or whether at all, he truly was a Stoic. This part begins with a description of Stoicism in general, followed by an introduction of two representatives of the Late Stoa, Seneca and Epictetus, whose thoughts the thesis draws on in the following sections. Their Stoic ideas are compared with the philosophical reflections of Marcus Aurelius, which are contained in his only philosophical book - Meditations. The thesis analyses the thoughts of the book in detail using qualitative content analysis. Based on this section dealing solely with philosophy, the first research question can be answered, i.e., to what extent Marcus Aurelius was a Stoic. In the second section, the thesis traces the important and controversial political decisions that Marcus Aurelius made during his reign. Práce je zaměřena na dobu před nástupem Rudolfa II. Zde jsem nastínil stav českého království, postavení nekatolíků v Čechách a boj o Českou konfesi. Abych čtenáře seznámil s tehdejší politickou a náboženskou situací, je také důležité je seznámit s výchovou a vladařskými začátky Rudolfa II. Ve druhé části jsem se snažil popsat průběh zápasu o Majestát a komplikace, které ho doprovázely. Moje práce zahrnula popis náboženské a politické situace v Čechách, od druhé poloviny 16. století, až po Bílou horu. Pro práci jsem použil odbornou literaturu, slovníky a některé vydané historické prameny.

Status of the emperor according to the Austrian constitutions

Resume Status of the emperor according to the Austrian constitutions The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the position which belonged to the head of the Habsburg Monarchy according to the Austrian Constitutions from the second half of the 19th century. The revolutionary years 1848-1849 caused changes in the constitutional system of the monarchy. These changes were also reflected at the level of head of state. The emperor was no longer to be sole representative of state power, but he had to participate in it together with the parliament and the government. When examining these changes, it is necessary to differentiate the formal position of Emperor, which belonged to him under the Constitutions and his factual position. Realistically, the emperor maintained until the collapse of the monarchy considerable influence on the exercise of state power. The work explores the following constitutions: Pillersdorf (April) constitution of 1848, Kremsier constitution of 1849, Stadion (March) constitution of 1849, Schmerling (February) constitution of 1861 and Beust (December) constitution of 1867.
